Benadryl Dosage Chart for Dogs (by Weight)

A printable Benadryl dosage chart for dogs based on the standard 1 mg per pound rule, from 5 lb to 100 lb — plus how to dose with tablets vs liquid.

Give every 8–12 hours, up to 2–3 times per day.

Tablets vs. liquid

  • Tablets (25 mg): simplest for medium and large dogs.
  • Children’s liquid (12.5 mg / 5 mL): best for small dogs and precise dosing — much easier than cutting tablets into quarters.

Whichever you use, it must be plain diphenhydramine — no decongestants, no acetaminophen, no xylitol.
