How much Pepcid is safe for a dog?
Pepcid is a common brand name for famotidine, an acid reducer vets use for dogs with acid reflux, gastritis, or general stomach upset. The usual dose is about 0.25–0.5 mg of famotidine per pound of body weight, every 12–24 hours, often given on an empty stomach before a meal. The calculator above turns that into the number of 10 mg or 20 mg tablets for your dog's weight.
Use plain famotidine only — avoid "Pepcid Complete", which contains added antacids. If your dog has kidney disease or takes other medications, check with your veterinarian before dosing, and see a vet if symptoms last more than a couple of days.
How this Pepcid dose is calculated
The standard veterinary dose of famotidine for a dog is about 0.5 mg per pound (1 mg/kg) of body weight, given every 12–24 hours, up to 2× per day. We multiply your pet's weight by that rate, then divide by the strength of the product you selected to show the number of tablets or millilitres — rounded to an amount you can actually measure.
